Introducing the Tilt-RM

 

One issue that is inherent in every light sheet imaging system is “striping.” This occurs when something interferes with the incoming light sheet (debris in the sample chamber for example). This then causes a stripe in the light sheet.

To reduce this striping, the Tilt-RM introduces a resonance scanning mirror in the light path as shown below,

As illustrated above, when the resonance mirror is on, the light that impacts any one area on the sample is coming in at different angles as the sheet is scanned. So if the cause of the striping is in one position, but not another, the stripe is averaged out and greatly reduced. An example of this can be seen below.

As can be clearly seen, the addition of the resonance scanning mirror can make s significant impact on some samples. There is no software control need nor are there any external controller. The resonance scanning mirror is simply incorporated into the lid of the Tilt light sheet optical assembly, making it an easy upgrade to existing Tilt light sheet imaging systems.
